About the event
We are proud to welcome as our January speaker, Texas Representative James Talarico, rising star in the Texas Democratic Party. Born in Round Rock, TX,, James Talarico was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2018 and then, following the 2020 redistricting cycle, he won a seat in District 50 in 2022. Talarico currently serves on the Texas House of Representatives’ Public Education Committee, Calendars Committee, and Juvenile Justice and Family Issues Committee. As a former middle school teacher and one of the youngest elected officials in Texas, he is keenly interested in school finance reform; child care quality and affordability; school fentanyl overdose prevention and incarcerated minors’ efforts to earn high school diplomas-- achievements for which he was named one of the 10 Best Legislators by Texas Monthly magazine.
