About the event
Our August book, SMALL MERCIES, by Dennis Lehane is a historical fiction novel about racism as it delves into desegregation of the Boston public schools in 1974. Protests, "the projects", a dead man, the drug lord, racial slurs, a missing teenager - this novel has it all. The New York Times says "The take-no-prisoners hero of this novel is a pissed-off middle-aged mom and it is a thrill to watch her burn it all down." I'm definitely going to enjoy this book!!!
